As a strong woman, what is the most common misconception about you?

I think the biggest misconception about me or other strong women is that we don’t need help, that our strength means we always have everything handled. But, part of being strong Is knowing what your limits are and how best to communicate with others the things you want and desire.

What does it mean to be strong?

Strong means understanding your power and how far it can take you. It is a word that symbolizes our inner determination and will power.

How has being strong benefited you in your career and on your path to your career?

Being an entertainer in a cut-throat industry, my strength has helped me prevail in many situations.

How do you deal with people who are offended by your strength?

I just continue moving forward and don’t let people get to me. So many times others’ opinions can really weigh us down. I try not to entertain or welcome anything in my life that doesn’t serve me.

What goals have you set to accomplish in the next 5 years to advance your career or life?

I have dreams of performing overseas and continuing my songwriting work with various artists.

When and how did you know you were on the right career path?

I’ve been singing for so long. I knew that I had something special to offer. When things began to line up and fantastic singing opportunities come in, I knew I was doing the right thing.

Who is a mentor to you and how did you pick them?

I have two mentors. One is my very talented singer songwriter, Ramon Jackson, and the other is Brian Johns, a stellar vocalist and friend. Both of them I trust very much, and I know that whatever advice they give me I can count on and respect.

How did you deal with obstacles on your path to where you are now in your career?

I really learned how to be strong and not sweat the small stuff. So many times we focus on small things that are not worth our time, and I learned very early on to move forward and stay consistent at all costs.

What is an interesting, little-known fact about you?

A little-known fact about me is that my second career of choice would have been a meteorologist. I’ve always loved learning about weather and been interested in how it functions.

If you could you talk to your 14-year-old self, what kind of advice would you give?

Trust your instincts and yourself. = Give yourself love, and continue to stay determined even when the road gets tough.
